"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Lumpy but catchable early

Hello Friends,

Grey skies with light offshores and sets into the chest plus range at Dee Why as of 0730. Tide was just on low and is now flowing in to the 1.45m high at 1255. Wind should be coming around to the SE soon, so if surfing’s in your plans today, the sooner you get to the beach, the better.
The waves looked kind of flabby to me, so I wasn’t surprised to see the MHL buoy reporting 1.7 metres of 8-sec SE as of its last update.
It looks as though we’re stuck with SE wind through to Wednesday at least, but the models tells us there should be wave energy all week, so on Thursday and Friday when the wind is set to come around to westerly quarters, we should still have waves. In fact, some of the models show the average period increasing to 11-12 sec from Thursday through Saturday. Could be good…
Have a great Monday everybody!

Weather Situation
A low pressure system (Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie) remains almost stationary over the northern Tasman Sea, while a high south of the Bight extends a strengthening ridge into New South Wales. The combination of these systems is generating southerly winds over coastal waters, which will remain fresh to strong in the north until the low begins to move away during Tuesday. By mid-week the high is expected to be centred just east of Bass Strait, promoting an easing of winds.
