For the diary: Surfrider screening ‘A Plastic Ocean’ 4 July


Surfrider Foundation Australia is a non-profit, sea-roots organisation dedicated to the protection of Australia’s oceans, beaches and waves. This screening will be coupled with drink specials and raffle prizes, ranging from surf gear to dinner vouchers and more. All proceeds go to Surfrider Australia and the Rise Above Plastics campaign.

A Plastic Ocean chronicles the journey of Director Craig Leeson and freediver Tanya Streeton as they travel around the world to explore the fragile state of our oceans, uncover alarming truths about plastic pollution. Spanning twenty different locations, they search for solutions to rid the oceans of plastic pollution and return the seas to their pristine state.

WHY SHOULD YOU SEE THIS FILM?

This film screening aligns with Plastic Free July. Proceeds raised from the screening of ‘A Plastic Ocean’ will support our Rise Above Plastics campaign, which aims to raise widespread awareness about the impacts of plastic pollution on our marine environments, encouraging society to transcend or ‘rise above’ the habitual acceptance of single-use convenience items in order to prevent the problem at its source. Get your tickets here
