"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Rainy start to Sunday

Hello Friends,

Just a quick update. Stopped by the beach to see what was going on and can report that although the wind was making it kind of junky and unattractive, there were some softish but perfectly rideable chest high sets at the point and along the beach. The chilly air and grey, rainy skies have suppressed the crowds too.

Bomb set looks the goods at the point – but a couple seconds later it fatted out….

Earlier….

Father’s Day started off with rain and low visibility, so no early pics, As predicted, the swell has pushed up overnight and as of 0600 the MHL buoy was seeing 2.4 m of 10 sec energy from the SSE (158°).  Wind at North Head as of 0820 was already 13-18 kts. Beachwatch says the water temp is a chilly 16°C – and air temp will be the same. Next tide is a high of 1.5 m at 1255.

As the marine forecast below outlines, our surf prospects are not exactly tantalizing. We’re in for some much needed rain, and there will be swell for the front half of the new week, but it’s also going to be onshore. from the southerly quarters.

According to the models, Wednesday sees the wind regime swing N-NE with weak, short period swell from the east. Wind could be light Thursday and Friday am, but swell will be short period and fading say the predictions.

Have a great Father’s Day!
