"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Hello Friends,

Pulled the pin on the surfari after looking at the forecasts for the far north coast, so back in Sydney for the rest of the week. At 0700 wind was coming from the north at Dee Why. Surf looked very small and as far as I could tell there were only a couple of people in the water (at the point). Out at sea the MHL buoy was seeing 2 metres of 7-second mainly easterly wind bump. The 1.5 m high was at 0545 and is currently dropping to low at 1210. Water is still on 22C – amazingly.

The dribbly conditions look like continuing for the next couple of days but they could improve a bit for Friday – which would be nice. Beyond that, the latest modelling is showing a solid, if shortish period south pulse early next week. Both the ECM and Wavewatch models are showing the influx of south energy coming into our region Saturday night. The predictions are for around 3 metres of dead south at 7-8 seconds along with 20 kts of southerly wind. It currently looks as though the wind could get a more favourable SW inflection by Monday morning while the swell continues to hang in there. Best looking prospect we’ve had in some time.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Weather Situation

A slow moving high pressure system over the Tasman Sea has established northerly winds over most coastal areas. Little change is expected in this pattern until the end of the week, when a trough and associated cold front crosses the coast from the west on Friday and Saturday, bringing fresh west to southwesterly changes in its wake.
