The Goat’s Surf Forecast

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 7 April 2022: Seven day outlook for Sydney

More variety ahead.. starting with light grey, dark grey, maybe a bit bluer skies by Monday, and light brown. dark brown ocean water…. how could anyone be bored???

Let’s recap first with water quality..

Beachwatch suggests “avoiding swimming” for a day after heavy rain or if there’s stormwater present (https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/beachapp/oceanbulletin.aspx?NoMobile)

The water was pretty foul looking before Thursday’s rain. It’s raining heavily and for all we know the sewer’s malfunctioning into the stormwater system (there was a nasty whiff in the air at Newport the other day), and there’s lots of water coming down the Hawkesbury again…

A small percentage of people have been swimming and surfing. It’s a free country. But TG suggests you might want to read what Nick has to say here>> Pages 54, 55

https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/fullscreen/66614277/pittwater-life-april-2022-issue

TG is not an expert (on anything), but he developed his own water pollution assessment system over many years. You might want to try it out when deciding about a dip in the ocean at the moment>>

If it looks like…. And stinks like …. It probably is ….!

TG was reluctant to tell you about the surf outlook and surf quality, but feels a sense of responsibility.

He was told “They’re all big girls and boys.. They can take it!”

We look like having onshores for a couple more days… with rain. Oh joy. Then sigh… Even when the skies might be briefly bluer, there’s still the water quality to consider.

Never mind…  TG asked his Brains Trust for a few suggestions for alternative activities to surfing in Sydney, to give you exercise, reduce stress, and maintain your sanity and good sense of humour…

Try these on for size…

gym, swim in a pool, yoga, pilates, stretch class, drive to where it’s sunny/ not raining, “Curl up in the fetal position and cry. I call it child pose with salt water therapy. You cry until your face is all wet and then you are done …just like going for a swim/surf and doing some yoga”.

Hope those are helpful 🙂
