"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Massive morning

Hello Friends,

Swell was pounding in this morning at Dee Why and yet weirdly the Bureau hasn’t hoisted the large and powerful surf warning. Definitely a day for the fit and experienced riders only. Conditions look pretty raw and lumpy it has to be said. Sets were big enough to max out the point, and I may be hallucinating, but it looks like maybe a reasonable bank is shaping up just north of the club. Wind was 10-13 kts from the west as of 0700, while swell at sea was 3.3 metres at 11 seconds from the ESE-SE as of 0600. Tide is coming into a 1.5 m high at 1015 and weather outlook is for mostly sunny skies and SW wind for the morning session.

Know your limits and spend some time watching before you paddle out if you have even the slightest doubt. Oh, and Beachwatch is cautioning that pollution may still be possible. Water’s on 21.

I’ll be very keen to see what the Goat things, but my take is that surf prospects are looking pretty reasonable right through the weekend and into mid next week even. So, if it’s too wild and woolly looking for you today, maybe tomorrow will be more dialled in.

Have a great day one and all!

Weather Situation

A low in the Tasman Sea is bringing a burst of cooler southerly winds to the coast. Following this, a new ridge is forecast to become established across the southern waters over the weekend, promoting a period of generally settled weather. The next change is expected early next week.
