"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Saturday morning micro, but…

Oh dear.
Oh dear.

Hello Friends,

As expected we have relatively strong wind this morning. Currently it’s out’ve the WNW at 10-15kts. Quite mild too. Sadly, as anticipated, swell is just about all gone for Sydney. But despair not, we’re probably near the bottom of the trough on this flat spell and as the day goes along, we can expect the swell to stir into life once more. Whether that will happen by nightfall is another question.

The Eden buoy started showing an upward swing in average swell height, going from around a metre to over two metres in the space of 6 hours. At the same time, the period has increased by close to a second.

My hunch is that we’ll be lucky to get into the surfable range at south exposed spots by nightfall.

However, by first light tomorrow there should be some solid two plus metre 10 sec plus south swell filling in. And the wind could be okay too, with the current call being for S-SW. Oh and it should be fine and sunny all day.

So get out and do all those chores, meet all those social obligations and generally swab the decks so that you’re ready for tomorrow Sydney surfers.

Saturday until midnight: Wind: W/NW 20/30 knots easing to W/SW 20/25 knots later.Sea: 2 to 3 metres.Swell: S 1 to 1.5 metres increasing to about 2 metres later .
Sunday: Wind: S/SW 10/20 knots. Sea: about 1.5 metres. Swell: S 2 to 3 metres.
Monday: Wind: E/SE 10/15 knots.

And here’s an mp3 of my surf chat on ABC 702 radio this morning.
