Hooray, we still have a few waves this morning

Hello Friends,

Good news Sydney surfers, the waves haven’t gone away. Swell’s gone more to the SSE but as of 0800 was still averaging around the two metre mark at sea. The period bumped up a little yesterday and is still sitting on about the 9 second mark. We’re coming off a high tide at 0520 and heading toward a low at about 1130 before we fit in another high at 1730 ish.

There were a fair number of bods in the water on a sunny and beautiful morning at Dee Why. Sets along the beach were about shoulder to head high. Most of them were shutting down, but I saw a couple quick lefts that looked like fun. The point was busyish and smaller. So, it’s the usual DY choice, bigger but mostly shutting down beachy or smaller and less consistent slot takeoffs at the point. Happily, given the conditions, there should be a number of options around the place this morning.

The trends are still downward according to the models. In fact, if it plays out as they foretell, by the time we get to dusk, the ocean will be noticeably less entrancing as a south to SE wind pushes in. Tomorrow is expected to be smaller and southerly as the swell fades back a little more into the waist high range by the end of the day.

The latest long range outlook is pointing to another week of marginal, short period stuff that is likely to be at its best in the mornings. With luck it won’t diminish to flatness and it’ll be possible to get in for a little sesh most days.

Have yourself a good one!

Following this, a high pressure ridge will extend across from the west, and is expected to remain the dominant feature along the coast through to the end of the week, maintaining southwest to southeast winds.
