"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Offshore, clean and starting to pick up

Hello Friends,

The forecast was calling for heaps of wind this morning, but as of 0845, it was just about calm. Swell was coming out of the SSE and was about 2 metres with a 9 second period. It seemed to be inconsistent when I checked around 0845, but there were sets into the chest high range at the beach. The Bureau says it should bump up by at least another metre later in the day. Swell down at Batemans Bay briefly hit 5 metres around midnight and Port Kembla’s popped up to nearly 4 metres in the last hour or so. Should be here very soon…

The wind is expected to kick up dramatically too with the Bureau warning that some spots may see up to 50 knots of S-SWly later… but, it’s light now and the tide is dropping to a low at 1120, so not a bad combo if you don’t mind the cold and grey drizzly day.

I’d say we’ll have waves tomorrow morning too and with luck the wind won’t be too nutty.

Have yourself a top old Friday.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system is deepening off the Illawarra coast and tracking slowly north to northeastwards. Gale to storm force south to southwesterly winds and large seas are expected near and to the south of this system, which is expected to be off the Sydney coast by later in the morning, then the northern Hunter/southern Macquarie coast by late afternoon/early evening. This low will move away to the east later today. A high pressure centre is forecast to lie over the Bight today and is expected to extend a ridge of high pressure into western New South Wales by later in the day before moving across NSW over the weekend.
