Well travelled pumice
Hello Friends,

Do you like my pumice picture? This material’s been around for some months now, but lately we seem to be copping some of the older, barnacled stuff like the lump above. Apparently this is the largest undersea volcano pumice event in the past 25-50 years.

Anyway, on the surf front, things are pretty quiet again. As with yesterday, we have some small, kinda junky short period NE wind swell lapping in at less than 7 seconds apart. No good. Set wave faces at exposed spots will be struggling to get to waist high for the most part. And you’ll have to be quick to get into ’em because they pop up and drop off pretty suddenly.

We’re coming up toward high tide at a little after 10 and given the conditions, I’m not expecting much improvement as the day goes along. Wind’s going to be NE all day, so maybe that’ll push something up for us tomorrow morning – or not. Outlook for early next week is still modestly hopeful for an increase in swell energy. The main issue will be the wind I’d guess.

Have yourself a top old Friday and keep on smilin’!

Weather Situation
A high pressure system remains almost stationary above the Tasman Sea, directing a predominantly east to northeasterly airstream over the New South Wales coast. A low pressure trough is forecast to move across the state during the weekend as the high weakens and loses influence. This will bring a southerly change to the south coast on Saturday, extending northwards through Sunday and Monday. Following this, another high will shift to the Tasman Sea early in the new week, while another trough becomes established over western New South Wales.
