Utter flatness for Sunday

Hello Friends,

Another day to find some non-surfing activity to keep yourself fit. Ocean was flat to the horizon thanks to 5-10 kts of NW wind and 0.7 m of 11-sec south bump. Pretty good conditions for whale spotting though. It didn’t take me long to see a splash about 5 km offshore but, even with the 600 mm lens on my D750, it was only just visible in the picture posted below…

As you can see from the forecast below, Huey is going to throw the switch to gales and showers tomorrow. Swell will build from the south across the day and is set to be in the 2-4 m range by the time the sun is setting. The blasting southerlies and big swell will continue into Tuesday before fading back on Wednesday. With any luck we’ll have more favourable wind settings and some swell for Thursday-Friday.

Have yourself a fine old Sunday everyone!

Weather Situation
A series of cold fronts are crossing southeastern Australia as a low pressure system slowly moves to the south of Tasmania and establishes itself in the Tasman Sea. A south to southwesterly change will move up the coast from the south and strengthen on Monday as the low moves into the Tasman Sea. By the middle of the week, winds are expected to ease as the low moves closer to New Zealand.
