Plainly not a day for a surf. The rain is expected to be heavy at times, the ESE wind has been blasting along at 20-30 kts all night, the water was given the ‘pollution likely’ designation everywhere by Beachwatch yesterday morning (so it won’t be better today) and the ocean is a lumpy mess. The relentless onshores and heavy rain looks like writing off surfing prospects until midweek at the earliest.
Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is expected to remain almost stationary for a number of days, bringing generally easterly winds across New South Wales. A trough lies just off the coast, within which a small low pressure circulation has developed. This low, currently in the north, will move to central waters during Saturday before decaying. Following this, the pattern is expected to remain relatively unchanged until the next trough crosses the region mid-week.
