Lumpy, junky but waves for the keen

Hello Friends,

Grey skies again this morning and more messy conditions, but at least the swell’s sort of sticking around. Wind was out of the SSE at 13-19kts as of 0900. Swell at sea is coming from the SSE at 7 seconds apart, so the only thing making it remotely rideable was the 2.46 m average height. There were a surprising number of people in the water at Dee Why where it looked as though wave faces could be occasionally in the shoulder high range. But as the pictures show, it’s pretty beat up.

While water along the Dee Why to Longy stretch was rated pollution unlikely by Beachwatch, from Curly to the Bower is rated as dodgy and it’s pretty much the same from Bungan to Collaroy.

Tide hits a 0.68 m low at 0950, it’ll be back to the 1.44 m high at 1555. Weather should remain cloudy with the odd shower in the morning as we head to a high of 23C and ocean is 24C.

Outlook is for similar marginal conditions tomorrow and then fading to near flat Thursday before maybe coming back up into the marginal range at the weekend.

The Bureau has an, er, interesting chart for 2 January 2022…

Stay safe everyone!
