The Goat’s Surf Forecast

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 3 Februray 2022: Seven day outlook for Sydney

The Southerly wind has been relentless today, mostly around a steady 40-50kph with gusts of 50-60 and just shy of 70kph, and there’s more forecast to come and TG is sick of it already! It just isn’t nice being outside in it.

It’s pushed up the swell to around 3 m offshore dead South with a hefty 10+ second period, but the “surf” inshore is just a mess, and in these conditions the Bureau’s warning about dangerous surf for tomorrow is correct.

The wind and the swell are coming from an intense Low in the middle of the Tasman currently between Bass Strait and NZ, and it looks like sticking around/ being replaced by another one… like an unwelcome tag team of irritation.

The weather outlook according to the Bureau is for wind and showers to continue all week, with the relevant word here being “wind”, varying between S,SE, SW/S and S.  Wave size will be up, but it’s hard to see that there will be many or any real options for much of a surf.

So with that happy news, you might want to keep up your outdoor exercise somewhere away from the coast/ out of the wind, or try for a paddle/ swim if you can, and it’s safe. Otherwise indoor exercise will at least be out of the wind.

Friday: say around 2-3 metres South East/East South East, messy

Saturday: ditto South East and coming up, messy

Sunday: say around 3-4 metres East South East, messy

Monday: ditto

Tuesday: ditto again

Wednesday: hmm say 2-3 metres East South East and messy

Thursday: similar

Take care. Stay Safe. Stay positive. Stay Happy. Stay around!
