The Goat’s Surf Forecast

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 8 November 2022: Seven day outloook for Sydney

The wind’s been blowin’ birds backwards most of today (Thursday) and it’s brought up some windy messy swell from dead South.  The MHL buoy is showing 2-4 metres outside. Most of the big stuff is sliding on by us, up the coast (as it’s from dead South), but the sets have a 10 second period so some of that should be coming in to places that get larger Southerly swell.

The Bureau’s forecast is for the wind to pick up again tomorrow and the BoM has a warning for large and powerful surf for Friday, and Saturday morning.

What they mean of course is… at places that are open to dead South swell …

Like say Bondi, which is windy messy and rough….

At yer sheltered spots like Manly or Collaroy, it’s much more benign and even sheltered somewhat from the wind. They’re the places beginners can have a go.

If you’re past beginner stage, and not yet in Surfing Elder stage, you might want to grit your teeth and hold yourself back. Or if you’re really keen for messy windy surf, go for it.

It’s supposed to get warm and sunny on Sunday, so if you’re going to the beach for a swim, then head to the flag area – especially at places that are open to the South. There are lots of rips and messed up banks about, even though the size should be more moderate by then.

Friday: 2-3 metres at dead South spots, with wind

Saturday: ditto and ditto

Sunday: easing back to somewhere in the 1-2 metre range dead South

Monday: ditto but North East

Tuesday: ditto ditto

Wednesday: around 1 metre or could be less East

Thursday: ditto, could be up a little later.

Enjoy
