Hello Friends,
A nearly 16 second period for the 1.7 metre straight south swell means that the lines are very long so it’s refracting into the point at Dee Why and pretty much closing out along the open beach. Set wave faces looked to be in the head high plus range on the bigger ones. There were close to 30 people in the water, so you’d want to be pretty competitive to get a wave.
Wind was light westerly early and it’s set to stay that way on what should be a mostly sunny day. Tide was low at 0740 and will be back to high at 1420. We should see a high of 21 along the beaches. Water is still on 18 and, apart from lagoon entrances at Manly and Curly, it’s clean.
Swell’s predicted to fade gradually over the next couple of days, but we should have solid sets through tomorrow and maybe even on Friday. Right now it looks like we might have a little uptick on Saturday too. Nice.
Go well with your Wednesday!
Weather Situation
A strong high pressure system over southern parts of the state extends a ridge along the coast. Southerly winds are forecast to weaken with winds becoming light and variable today, before turning northerly on Thursday as the high pressure system moves into the Tasman Sea. A trough brushes along the southern coastal waters later in the week, with a brief west to southwesterly wind change forecast on Friday.
