Wind swell fun

Hello Friends,

Lumpy bumpy shoulder-high wind swell waves hitting the banks just up from the club this morning. It was pretty chaotic, with most riders not finding out if a given wave was makeable until they came out of the bottom turn. You could get lucky and score a workable one from out the back to the sand, but mostly it was take off, turn and kick out. Wind was light and though the skies were occasionally threatening, it didn’t actually rain while I was at the beach this morning. Out at sea the swell was 1.4 metres predominantly from the SSE with a mix of short period and occasional 12-sec interval ground swell sets. Those tended to shutdown on the banks (and they weren’t refracting around the point), but I’m sure they kept things interesting in the water.

Later this afternoon we should have the Goat’s words of wisdom on our surf prospects for the week ahead, so I’ll just say that the weather call is for a rainy weekend, but it looks like surf prospects of some sort or other into mid-next week.

Go well!

Weather Situation

A slow-moving high pressure system centred south of Tasmania is generating persistent onshore winds over the NSW coast. A coastal trough is expected to form on the weekend and a low pressure circulation may develop in the trough during Sunday, before moving away from the coast early in the new week.
