Hello Friends,
Smoke haze wasn’t too bad early but the surf situation’s another thing… a near flat thing in fact. The south wind was around 10 kts, so, at the picture shows, the surface was textured. At 0400 the MHL buoy was seeing 1.3 metres from the SSE, but the period was just 6 seconds. Not that it’s terribly relevant given the lack of surf, but the first tide of the daylight hours will be a low at 0950.
Thankfully we’re getting a break from the heat today with a high of 26C on the cards. It’ll be back again tomorrow but from Sunday it’s set to go back to a more typical mid-20s for much of next week. There’s even a prospect of the odd little sprinkle too.
A quick glance at the models suggests tiny for a couple of days yet, but some possible increase in wave energy later in the week.
Go well with your Friday!
Weather Situation
The low pressure trough that brought a southerly change to New South Wales waters yesterday is slowly decaying along the northern coast, as the high pressure system over the Tasman Sea reasserts its dominance and turns winds northeasterly along the New South Wales coast through today. Another low pressure trough and cold front will bring a second southerly change to the southern and central coast during Saturday, with the change reaching the northern coast on Sunday. Following this, another high pressure system will move over the southern Tasman Sea at the start of next week.
