Knee high

Hello Friends,

Just barely surfable this morning at Longy. I took the fish out and had a go catching the little lefts. Mostly I lost out to the smarter people who’d brought their mals. The biggest set wave I caught was maybe waist high, but I was still able to grovel it all the way to shore. An accomplishment of some sort!

The water’s so beautiful that you just have to get in, even though the wave energy is at a very low ebb.

Swell is kinda oscillating around between east and south-east according to the buoy. The average period this morning was nearly 11 seconds, with some 13s in the mix as well. But since about lunchtime it’s slumped to an average of only 8. I’d say you’ll need to be super extra keen for the late one.

Like everyone else, I’ve been watching the charts, hoping for a sign that Ului will get into our swell window. But on the latest reckoning, it seems pretty unlikely. The peak days up north will be around Saturday and into Sunday, but my guess is that we’re probably only going to see a modest uptick in the Sydney region.

As for tomorrow morning, well, if it delivers as much as today, I’ll be happy.

Good luck and hope you get a few fun ones!
