Hey, we all know that we’re in a La Nina period…. Curious about previous La Nina years???

Well TG is here to help.

The following website lists a classification of years in terms of ‘El Niño’, ‘Neutral’ and ‘La Niña’ based on the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) going way back to 1890!   >>>

Check out 1974 – the year of… major floods in Brisbane and TC Tracey in Darwin. It was also as a matter of interest the year of the ‘Sygna’ storm in Sydney, that destroyed Manly pool among other things.

Between 1840 and 1900 (60 years) Brisbane had been hit by three floods much bigger than 1974 — two of them within a fortnight of each other — and another three at least as big.
