A few options for the early

On Golden Curly

Long Reef crew on it

Clean one

Hello Friends,

Found myself down at Dee Why right on daybreak. Spectacular skies and still a few fun peaks popping up for the early risers. Swell’s definitely gone off the boil now. The lulls are longer, the good, makeable set waves are fewer and farther between, but I did see a few shoulder plus sets between about 0645 and 0715. It was reasonably busy, with maybe 20 people in the water by 0700.

Up the beach at Long Reef there were a similar number chasing what appeared to be more cross shore and chewed up, but slightly bigger sets.

Around at Curly the main action appeared to be up at the north end. Again, like Long Reef, the wind was doing a sideshore number on the surface. I surfed there yesterday and the peaks weren’t up to the usual Curly standard. I’d say that’s very much the case again this morning. Some size, but sectiony and lumpy.

Tide was high at 0520 and will hit low at 1130 before climbing back to a highish high just after dark at a little before 1800.

Skies are expected to cloud over from late morning and with it, the rain.

I’m not too hopeful about surf prospects across the next few days. However, according to the swell forecast models this morning, there could be a reasonable straight south pulse on Sunday and lasting through to maybe Tuesday morning – when it then looks like a heap of onshores for a couple days…

Go well one and all!
