Too stormy

Hello Friends,

Steady 15-20 kts of easterly wind is tearing Dee Why up as the morning session got underway. There’s a caution for “large and powerful surf conditions” from the Bureau and as of 0600 swell was averaging 3 metres from the east at a touch over 10 seconds apart. Water conditions are pretty ordinary, particularly at Collaroy, North Curly and Freshy according to Beachwatch

So probably a day to give it a pass.

Outlook is for the swell to stick around at about the current size through tomorrow before it starts swinging more SE on Friday. Unfortunately it’ll be south-easterly to southerly at 20-30 kts across the period, so surf options will be few and far between.

The various models are telling us that the swell should continue at around the present size – give or take a bit – into next week. They’re pointing to the wind being problematic through Saturday before maybe weakening a touch for Sunday morning and turning offshore (!) Sunday afternoon. That’s good to see!

Have yourself a top old Wednesday!
