NE’r day

Hello Friends,

Wind was north to NNE and close to 10kts at daybreak. Swell was still around the 2 metre mark at 12 seconds from the SSE. The Bureau says the wind’ll just get stronger until it’s in the 25 kt range from the NE this afternoon. Unfortunately, the swell is set to weaken gradually as the day goes along. So, maybe hit the NE wind – south swell spot of your choice for the early and hope to score a few scrappy ones. Sadly, the tide is high at 0645. There’s a chance that NE wind swell spots could get a peaky combo swell thing happening for the late as the influx of NE wind swell mixes with the fading south.

Outlook for the next few days remains uninspiring. Tomorrow the NE’r is set to go harder again and then overnight into Thursday the wind goes south east.

Southern California continues to bump along at the lower end of surfable. At this stage it seems that it’ll continue along these lines for another 10 days or so. I grabbed this snap from one of the California Street cams (about an hour south of Santa Barbara where I am).

Have a great day and stay happy!

Weather Situation

A high pressure system over the western Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the New South Wales coast. Northeasterly winds will strengthen over most waters on Tuesday as a low pressure trough moves into western New South Wales. This trough will move across to the east on Wednesday, bringing a gusty southerly change to southern and central waters by the end of the day. The southerly will then move to the northern NSW coast on Thursday as another high pressure ridge develops over the southern Tasman Sea.
