Sunday midday clip from Curl Curl (vid)

Dropped by Curl Curl right on lunch time on the last day of January. It was hot and sunny and hard to get a park, so the water was pretty busy. But there were a few little waves to be had on the sets. Water’s beautiful too!

Sunday morning started with waves

Hello Friends, Sunny skies, light offshores and waist to chest plus sets at 0700. And the Bureau says wind’ll stay NW this morning. Plus, it tells us to expect the SE swell to perk and for the easterly component to hold as well. At 0500 the MHL buoy was showing 1.7 metres SE at a […]

Clean and fun for the early crew

Hello Friends, It was a good morning to be hitting it early. Glassy conditions prevailed and although the tide was close to the 0705 low when I checked it out, the waves weren’t anything like as horrifically crunchy as yesterday afternoon. The Bureau says the wind should stay light this morning and the models have […]

Cloudy again but waves again too

Hello Friends, Another warm and humid day coming up. There’s only a 5% chance of no rain. Tide was low at 0620 and wind at 0800 was lightly NE (it’ll pick up later of course). Swell continues to be a mix of SE and NE components. At 0500 average height of the biggest component was […]

The Goat’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Thursday 28 January 2016: Eight day outlook for Sydney: More hot days, more showers and cloudiness, so more humidity, but more waves to keep cool in… Just about seen the last of TC Victor’s occasional thumpers, but although it’ll be gradually going down, there should still be waves all week. Friday: 1-2 […]

Coming home, loose-lipped from the dentist, swung by Dee Why for a quick look. Wind had actually backed off a bit and the swell was producing the occasional head plus bomb. So, I grabbed you another single-take sequence off the point…

Gloomy skies again but some solid sets in the mix

Hello Friends, The Bureau tells us it expects the swell to pulse up a little in the middle of the day. Given that there were overhead sets every now and again around 0700, it could get interesting. The day started out with more gloomy skies but very little wind. At 0400 the MHL buoy was […]

Another grey start and smaller surf too

dy point surfer

Hello Friends, The Bureau has a warning posted for deceptively powerful surf conditions and at 0400 the MHL buoy was showing close to two metres at 12 seconds (plus there was some smaller, weaker component from the NE) – but, as the picture shows, it was pretty quiet looking at Dee Why around 0645. Maybe […]
