Good day for beginners

Hello Friends,

Not much going on at Dee Why this morning. Wind was light under high overcast and the MHL buoy was detecting a metre of 6-second SSE wind bump. The best you can hope for will be to find something in the knee high range at a magnet spot. And even then, it’ll be very weak, so you’ll want that big floaty thing you used yesterday. Oh, and the tide’ll be making it fat and full as it was high at 0700 and won’t be back to low until 1340.
We’re in for another hot day, so you may be wondering if there’s any hope of an improvement to conditions today. Short answer: there is a faint possibility, but only faint, that we might see the odd long period east bump late this afternoon.
By tomorrow morning the east swell should be more obvious. Wind is expected to be north for most of the day and if the long period stuff kicks in as expected, we could potentially see shoulder high plus on sets at magnet spots.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Goat thinks of our prospects for the next week. My reading of the models is that there should be energy through to next Wednesday…
Have yourself a top old Thursday!

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the Queensland coast, while a broad low pressure trough stretches from central Australia to inland New South Wales. This pattern is directing generally northerly winds along most coastal waters, with a trough expected to bring a weak southerly change to the southern half during Friday. A more robust southerly change is expect to follow on Saturday, progressing through to the northern border during Sunday as a new high in the Bight pushes a ridge along the coast.
