Southerly and marginal

Hello Friends,

Just saw the beach again at 1130 and can report that almost no one was in the water at Dee Why beach. The point was unoccupied. The wind swell looks pretty choppy and weak, but if you were really keen it was possible to get something – now and then. But overall, if you couldn’t get in, you weren’t missing anything.
At 0630 I wrote…
The south change was in full cry by daybreak and that meant it was 15-25 kts everywhere. At 0500 the MHL buoy off Sydney was showing a 2 metre 6-second south wind swell under heavily overcast skies. Throw in a high tide at 0755 and you’re looking at pretty ordinary conditions – figure knee to waist gutless dribble. I didn’t have time to get a picture for this report, but I’ll try to rectify that later as the schedule permits. Needless to say, it’s looking like an excellent day to get on with your non-surfing life. So go well and check back later for pics!

Weather Situation
A weakening cold front lies over the northeast of the state, having established a southerly flow over all but the far northeast. The front is expected to move north today, extending the southerlies throughout. Behind this, a high pressure ridge looks set to extend across New South Wales from the west, with most coastal areas likely to experience fairly light winds during the weekend.
