Surf report

Glassy waves everywhere with a swell direction of East, East North
East…and people everywhere.

The Southerly change last night knocked the swell down a little but it’s
not knocked out. Hardly any wind at the moment. Was overcast earlier but
blue sky is appearing now.

Waves are in the 1-2 metre range, averaging mostly around 1.3m but slightly
bigger as sets come in.

People everywhere getting cool right now.. wind light offshore on the
coast, expected to go W NW… late S change this evening.

High tide at around 9.30 and pretty high at 1.9m so it’s filling in as the
tide comes in, but will improve as it starts to go out. Low at around 4pm
… 0.2m
A big run out later and Low tides at the moment mean very shallow sandbanks.

Water temp is a very pleasant 23.

It’ll be crowded so use some common sense. And watch the shallow conditions
later – the sand is hard if you hit it,

Surf carnivals at Long Reef and Maroubra..

There should be similar wave conditions on Sunday though smaller…and
choppier from the Southerly. Forecast below.

Swimmers who aren’t experienced surfers or not familiar with surf beaches –
eg from suburbs away from the coast, or country areas, or from overseas –
who might decide go to the beach for a dip to cool down, shouldn’t be
fooled by the size of the surf. Don’t be tempted to cool off in places
along the beach where there are no waves breaking and the water appears
calmer – That is often where a rip starts. Small waves can generate strong
rips. Swim between the red and yellow flags. Surf outside the buffer zone.

Stay safe. Have Fun
