"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Rough and ready

Hello Friends,

0930: After completing am airport run, I was back at DY for a look. Swell seems to have faded to near nothing, so even though it’s comparatively clean at the point, the waves are essentially uncatchable. Looks like slightly more size up the beach, but we’re maybe talking waist high faces on the biggest ones. Weird to think it was 4 to 6 metres out at sea around midnight.

Hopefuls at the point 0915
Tearing one up at the point
Up and riding just north of kiddies

At 0630
Grey and strongly southerly with a quickly fading south pulse. 4.4 metres at 12 seconds from 162° with 12-17 kts of south wind under highish solid overcast skies as of 0630.
Had to take a bunch of pictures to get the one below because I was being buffeted by the wind… looks less than exciting but there’s size. Have to do an airport run, but will check beach on way back and add a few snaps.

Weather Situation
A vigorous southerly change associated with a cold front has moved through all coastal districts early this morning, as a high pressure system moves from the Bight to the Tasman Sea. This high is forecast to remain over the Tasman Sea through the coming week, bringing onshore winds to the coast. A trough looks set to deepen near the coast during this period, although there is currently some uncertainty over it’s position.
