"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Sunny and crazy crowded again

Hello Friends,

After a dull old Thursday during which the waves did actually improve, this morning sees yet another day of surf for the exercise seekers. And boy are there a lot of them at the point. No way separation is being consistently maintained out there. As of Wednesday evening, there were 150 cases of COVID-19  on the Northern Beaches  Only Sydney and Waverley have higher counts (155 & 177). So the virus really is around. What’s more, infected people can be shedding virus with every breath for up to two days before they experience symptoms.
If you’re going to get wet, I’d say the beachy would generally be safer than any reefs or points. Unfortunately, the banks continue to be an issue. Shutdowns are the order of the day at every beach I’ve checked on my bike rides over the last week.
And the outlook, why it’s Friday morning, so the Goat has a fresh forecast for your consideration…
Go well!

Another shutdown rifles south along the beach

Another straighthander coming up
Mobbed but sets for sure

By Order of the Federal Government, our beaches are open for exercise only – surfing, swimming, running and walking.  Beaches will be closed due to unsafe conditions and or mass gatherings. All pools are closed at this time.

Please see some commonly asked questions about the beach closures.

If people are sunbaking or gathering on the beach, they will be asked to move along by our lifeguards, rangers or the police.

Due to the risk of Coronavirus and acting on direction of NSW and Federal Governments, Council has closed many public areas. View the latest updates on the evolving situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition, it is against the law to gather with more than two people in public, except:

  • for members of the same household
  • where the gathering is essential for work or education
  • If you go out, stay 1.5 metres away from other people at all times.

The rules are also now enforceable and Police are issuing fines of $1000 for individuals and $5000 for companies. These are difficult circumstances and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
