Windy Friday

Turn back!

Hello Friends,

SE 15-20 kts. Swell about 2.3 metres at 8 seconds apart from the SE. Pretty much says it all. The period is just a bit too short to make the swell refract into the more protected spots. So, instead it’s beat up and junky everywhere. Wave faces are in the shoulder plus range at exposed spots, but there aren’t any takers ’cause it’s just so ordinary.

Byron was hitting 6 metres this morning and Coffs wasn’t far behind. But the southerly is in the 30-40 kt range as well. We should see the swell picking up during the day as it heads to a peak early tomorrow morning. Probably won’t see it get to the 6 metre mark though.

Unfortunately tomorrow am will be extremely windy from the east, so there’s just about no prospect of waves on the open beaches. I suppose there’s a chance that some exotic inner harbour spots could maybe light up.

Tide was high at 0645 and will be low at 1330.

Have yourself a happy old Friday!

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system was located about 150 km E of Tweed Heads at 3 am, and moving west-southwest towards the northern NSW coast. The Low is forecast to cross the coast between the Queensland border and Coffs Harbour this afternoon. This system will bring vigorous gusty winds to the coast today, strongest in the north. As the low moves further inland winds on the north coast will ease gradually from the north later today and early Saturday but increase on the central and south coasts.
