"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Long period ahoy

Hello Friends,

This morning kicked off with clear skies, 10-15 kts of westerly wind and 1.3 metres of 17-second SSE swell (that energy’s traveled a long way to reach us). Tide was low at 0620 and at daybreak the air temp was a bracing 12 at RealSurf HQ.

Made a quick loop around the edges of the Plateau and can report that just before 0700 there were heaps of folk in the water on both sides of the Long Reef headland. From about the Marquesas to Northy it was waist to chest with the odd plus. Looked pretty clean and zippery with more shutdowns than not, but much fun to be had. Around the corner, there were waves of a similar size from inside the Longy bombies to Dee Why point. Greatest intensity seemed to be from about the lugga to the SLSC. The point was getting missed, so you really needed a mal or similar.

Outlook is for the swell to gradually fade today and for there to be not much of interest from tomorrow through to around Wednesday afternoon when our next pulse is expected to arrive. And right now it looks like it’ll be a helluva pulse too – 13-14 seconds of 4+ m south to SSE with SSW wind of any interest?

Running behind on the promised pics from the trip to Crescent, so will try to get them up today.

Have a great Saturday and get in if you can!
