Friday morning and there were waves

Hello Friends,

Another morning with waves and lots of folks chasing them at Dee Why. Set wave faces were into the shoulder high range, but the swell seemed mostly to be missing the point and was continuing its long term pattern of mostly shutting down along the beach. Swell could be at peak size according to the Bureau, who tell us it will dial back into the 1.5m range by lunchtime. Surface conditions looked a bit textured despite that the wind being out of the west at 4-5 kts. Swell was 1.9m at 9 seconds from the SE (138°) and tide was coming into a 1.67m high at 1000. We have a 60% chance of seeing a shower later, but along the beaches, the day started with largely clear skies. Should get to 23C today. Water’s clean and Beachwatch reckons it’s now 20C.

The ever reliable Goat has rolled out a fresh forecast for our surf week ahead, so why not jump over for a look?

Go well with your Friday everyone!

Weather Situation

An area of low pressure and associated trough are affecting the coastal waters, but will be replaced from today as a ridge builds. This ridge declines east on Saturday as a cold front and trough move across from the west. An area of low pressure develops on this trough, east of Tasmania, later Saturday into Sunday and slowly drifts east.
