"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Not gone, look around and be realistic

Hello Friends, Grey and chilly as I made the run back from Manly this morning. Swell has slipped another notch down toward unsurfability, but there were definitely still a few waist plus waves to be found from Manly to Dee Why. Wind was light and swell was a touch under the 1.5 metre mark from […]

Cold, rainy and solid with clean surface conditions

Hello Friends, Steady rain and 8-10C air temps weren’t putting off the keen this morning. Only phone pics for you this morning, but as they sort of show, surface conditions were smooth and 3 metres of 11-sec SSE swell meant shoulder to head plus wave faces at magnet spots. Tide’s high at 1020, so there […]

Drizzly but more waves about

dy point surfer

Hello Friends, A drippy start to Wednesday but even with an approaching high tide (0850), there were a few waist to chest wave faces at the better spots. The 0700 data from offshore showed 1.7 metres of SE swell at 13 seconds. The spectra reveals that it’s a mix of 7-8 sec east and longer […]

Definitely a few waves around from Manly to North Narrabeen

A few pictures from my Manly to RealSurf HQ run earlier this morning. Swell has come up slightly since this morning’s report and while the tide is making most places pretty fat, there are waves to be had at all the beaches I checked. Maybe as the tide drops, and if the wind holds off… […]

At high tide

Just a quick one to share a few snaps from this morning’s trip from Manly. High tide making it fat and declining swell making it inconsistent. Crowds were well down and there were waves. Manly ranged from knee to chest-ish, while Curly was more waist to shoulder-ish. . . . . .

PICS: Manly, Curly, DY this am

Grabbed a few snaps of the conditions at Manly, Curly and Dee Why around 0900 this morning as I was out and about. Manly was mildly busy crowd-wise, but smaller than yesterday and not as consistent. The best peaks were sort of around North Steyne, although I saw waves caught up and down the beach. […]

Very small but not flat

Hello Friends, Cloudy skies and light SW breezes to begin with today. Wind should go around to the NE in due course, but not get up to much above standard issue sea breeze strength. Swell is ESE at about a metre with an average period of only 7 seconds or so. That means weak and […]

Windy but not wavy

Hello Friends, Had to make a run into town this morning, so a bit late. Not that it matters sadly. There’s really not much happening at the beach, even with all the south wind. It’s around the two metre mark out at sea, but the period’s only 7 seconds, so you’d be doing really well […]

Onshore early but lumps about

Hello Friends, On short and final to Christmas and Huey can only barely be bothered to sling us any waves at all. Checked Curly and Dee Why around 0630 and the wind was already beating them up. Still, there were some tiny, lumpy, fat little things making their way in – particularly at the north […]

Small and inconsistent but not flat

Hello Friends, On again off again light showers and cool temps seem to have dissuaded the crowds this morning along the beaches between Manly and Dee Why. Of course knee to waist high conditions don’t help much either. Swell, such as it is, is out of the east mainly at about a metre with an […]
