Friday rough and challenging but possible

Hello Friends,

Another blustery morning with leaden skies and swirling wind onshore. Offshore the white horses fleck the sea. The MHL Sydney buoy was taken offline by a boat ripping it off its mooring, so our nearest data is coming from Pt Kembla where the swell was around the 3.5 metre mark at 11 seconds from the SSE. Wind was south to SSE 20-30 kts as I write this.

There were a few folks in the water at Dee Why point, but gee you needed to be fit and keen because it is really raw and bumpy and lumpy. Set wave faces were solidly overhead, but you’d be lucky to beat out more than a couple sections. Marginal as the point was this morning, the beachy was far less attractive. It’d be an accomplishment just to paddle out the back in that crazy stuff.

The Bureau says the wind will push along at this intensity all day, but the swell is expected to subside a little into the 2.5-3 metre range. Next tide is a low at 1020.

The Goat has rolled out his usual look at the surf week ahead, so no need for me to canvas the prospects this morning other than to say, I reckon he’s spot on!

Have a great Friday and keep on smilin’!
