TG’s Surf Forecast

Surf forecast issued Friday 20 Novemebr 2015: Eight day outlook for Sydney: The southerly change overnight will bring the swell up a little but a strong accompanying wind will just make it messy at exposed beaches tomorrow, while sheltered spots won’t be getting much of the dead South swell.. Similar for Sunday but down a […]

Looks hot from over here

Hello Friends, Checked out the 1120 temp reports from around Sydney and I can see it’s in the low to mid 30s most places. Yikes! Hope you’re finding a way to keep cool. From the MHL data and the various cams, I can see that surf options are barely there. Looks like knee high would […]

Small – but looks fun for mals

Hi All,  its small and slightly onshore – but the crew out this morning are having fun!  Bit bigger than yesterday – so all indications the swell will build during the day!  If the wind keeps off – tomorrow will be half decent.  Officially its SE, 1.1 Mtr at 7 secs with a 7kn Southerly. […]

Postcards from Cali and thoughts of Sydney

Lorraines

Hello Friends, As usual, first thing I check is the MHL buoy and this morning it’s showing 1.2 metres of 7-sec south wind swell. Not the best. Tide’s just turned and wind’s offshore at 0800, so maybe the south exposed places will be offering some tiny dribblers. Going to 30 today too. And tomorrow… crazy […]

Micro again – but clean

Hi Guys,  the whole East coast must be a lake today from the look of the buoy’s, but there are a few ripples to be had at Dee Why if you want to get wet.  Looking like the soonest we will see some size is the Saturday – but accompanied by a Southerly wind.  No pics today […]

Postcards from Cali: pretty colours but

Mesa Lane

The tiny swell of the last few days had pretty much faded away by the time your correspondent could get to the beach. Knowing it was really small, I checked the nearest wind swell magnet at a spot called Mesa Lane. Like the famous Sandspit, Mesa Lane’s inside the Santa Barbara city limits. Only a […]

Wednesday looking weak and tiny out at sea

Hello Friends, At 0630 Sydney surf prospects were looking pretty ordinary. The MHL buoy was detecting only a metre of 8-sec SE wind swell. Tide’s now coming off the low, so it’ll be back to high by lunchtime. Wind’s WNW now, but going NE this afternoon ahead of a late south change. I’m not really […]

Tiny SE knee height – bearly breaking

Hi Guys,  Its knee height and without a lot of power – and only bearly breaking.  I am not going out – but there are plenty of keen (read desperate) guys in the water already.  Bring lots of volume if you are going to attempt these waves.  It will get a bit better with the […]
