On the fade but not gone

Hello Friends,

As expected, it’s cogged down again overnight – but there are still a few little waves for Dee Why surfers. Wave faces on sets look to be in the chest to shoulder high range. Wind early was coming from the west at 9-10 kts. It’s due to swing more SW later, but not to pick up much if at all. Swell at sea was around 1.6 m at nearly 11 seconds from E by ESE (108°). Next tide is the low at noon. Ocean is on 19C and clean according to Beachwatch. Today’s weather should be mostly sunny but only getting to a high of 17C.

This morning’s swell models indicate a gradual decline into the tiny range by Friday as energy goes around to the south. That said, one model is showing a 12-14 second period at 1.4 metres and dead south. It’s supposed to be rainy too. And rain’s projected to turn to showers for Saturday while the wind ramps up from the SSW – along with the south swell. It’ll be interesting to see the Goat’s take tomorrow evening…

Go well, take the mask and stay safe.

Weather Situation

A ridge of high pressure extends over the coastal waters from a high over southeastern Australia. The coastal winds will remain south to southwesterly today, tending east to southeasterly on late Wednesday before turning northeasterly on Thursday as the high slowly moves to the east for the next few days. An offshore low is expected to develop from late Friday into Saturday, bringing strong west to southwesterly winds about the northern half NSW coastal waters.
