Clean conditions and little waves too

Hello Friends, Beautiful morning with light offshore wind with a lined up 1 metre 8-sec south swell making itself felt at the point and up the beach. Size looked to be in the knee to waist plus range. Tide was high at 0550 and is now dropping to the low at 1140. Weather should be […]

Clean but flat for Tuesday morning

dy point

Hello Friends, Cool start with sunny skies and 15-25 kts of westerly – and not a hint of swell. However… the Bureau tells us to expect some south energy to start making itself felt from around mddday. Looking at the buoy data from the MHL, we can see Sydney was picking up a metre of […]

Junky windswell for Monday morning

dy point

Hello Friends, Close to 2 metres of 6-sec east windswell flopping into Sydney’s beaches this morning. Wind was coming from pretty much the same direction and was around 10-15 kts at North Head. The Bureau tells us it’ll continue this way until a late afternoon south change. It was comparatively cool to begin with but […]

Smooth and little but not flat to start

dy beach surfer

Hello Friends, Around 10 kts of NW wind as Saturday kicked off under high overcast skies. Swell was under a metre from the SSE with a feeble average period of 7 seconds. First tide of the daylight hours was the low at 0715. It’ll be back to high at 1445. There were knee to maybe […]

Tiny trickle of a line Friday morning

dy point surfer

Hello Friends, Sunny to start and a warm day ahead says the Bureau. There was a tiny south line trickling in for the morning shift. It was just barely big enough to create the odd calf to knee high set at the point and along the beach it looked to be maybe a touch bigger […]

That was quick

Hello Friends, Looks just like yesterday at this time, ie flat. By 1400 it was waist to chest plus. The Bureau is telling us that we should see a similar pattern today, but if I’m reading the tea leaves correctly, it’s not going to get as big as yesterday afternoon. The 0500 MHL data showed […]

Weds late and swell has come up a little more

dy point surfer

Sunny, offshore and a building south by SSW swell. Sets at the point were approaching shoulder high and up the beach they were getting toward head on the biggest sets as of 1730. Swell looks like it’s peaking and by tomorrow morning we could be back to smaller conditions. With any luck it’ll still be […]

Ah…there’s something…

dy beach

1415: Okay, now it looks likes some activity is beginning to happen. Still to small to be worthy at the point but you could get the odd waist plus along the beach at Dee Why, so the Bureau was right, the swell has started to pick up. I’ll check again in a couple of hours…

Still micro to flat as of midday…

Midday update: Nothing of interest to report. No sign of south swell at Warriewood or Northy when I checked about 1100. One guy in the water at Northy catching the very occasional gutless but rideable knee high bomb.
